Real or Faek?

6th January 12

So we all know the neighbourhoods where we can find the perfect knock-off handbags - Cucci, Louis-Wuitton, Chamel (typo intended) on Canal Street in New York for example. There are even websites intended to guide you when shopping for fake items. Now maybe It’s just me and my passion for the craftsmanship of genuine designer goods but I just don’t get it. I’ve come to the conclusion that this idea of carrying a name brand is what they care most about. They may want to acquire these fake pieces for social acceptance, because the way I see it is that they don’t truly care about who the designer is or what art they’ve created, but are simply trying to show off the brand name in hopes to appeal to others. I believe this for the following reasons:

1. If you’re striving to buy your purse on Canal street in NY, let’s be real - it looks, smells and screams fake. The double C in the Chanel Logo is probably crooked.

2. People buy these authentic luxury designer bags for the quality. If you’re trying to buy a knockoff pleather ‘Fendi’ purse, you’re better off picking up a unique leather design from Aldo…I’m serious, it will probably last longer.

3. They have no idea what the difference is between a real and fake: simple rule - if the LV sign is upside down, you’ve got yourself a problem purse.

All in all, I believe that if you truly want to own a designer shoe, bag, etc. it should be an authentic piece and be something you’ve put money away to proudly reward yourself in the end.
